Jean Margeret Udal

29th May 1933 - 16th November 2024

My walk through life

My Roots

Jean was born in Darby Green in Blackwater, a small village in Hampshire, her parents Violet and Albert also had one other child Jean’s sister Patsy. Jean and Patsy remained close until Patsy sadly passed away in 2024.

Jean had a happy childhood with her parents and sister; her father was a great character and they always laughing at the scrapes he would get himself into.

During World War Two Jean was evacuated to a pub in Devon and still remembered the times she had there and the unfortunate/fortunate time that they were out one day and the pub got bombed meaning she had to move back home.

When she left school, she started working in a grocery store in Hartley Whitney, she was a caring young lady and hated to see people go without, due to her generosity she used to give families and older customers extra food when they had run out of rations.

My Family

Jean met and fell in love with Geoffrey Udal, they had dated for a while and were going to marry but Geoff was called up for national service in Egypt and Cyprus so that meant they had to postpone.

Jean waited for Geoff and after his return they continued to date and eventually got married on 5th January 1957, they went on to have 4 children Kim, Glen, Clive and Donna.

Jean lived with Geoff and the children whilst they grew up in Cove, Farnborough and continued to live there until her recent passing.

They were a close family and regularly got together either on family events and holidays, they had some wonderful parties mainly held at Camberley Cricket Club, they also loved taking family holidays with there Children, Grand-Children and Great Grandchildren, they loved Cyprus and Portugal and Jean spent many happy times on those holidays.

As Jean got to her later years, she was still a great lively character. She loved her two dogs, Billie and Dudley, and still loved to have all her family together at her home, she was much loved and will be sadly missed by her 4 Children, 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and many close friends.

Jean passed away at home on the 16th of November 2025 at the age of 92
